FYI - PC Miler has released updated maps for these units. It DOES NOT apply to the 450 or 550 models because those get maps directly from the internet.

If your unit was purchased new (not refurbished) any time after July 23rd then the update is free (there is a $15 shipping/handling charge) directly from their GPS hardware center by calling 507-226-0042. Be prepared to supply them with proof of purchase and the unit serial number.

For all others, the update is $49.95.

The update comes on a memory card and all you have to do is take out the one in your unit and replace it with the new one. You can then use the old memory card however you like with your camera, computer, or other device.

BEWARE that if you have many "favorites" or "trips" saved then you will lose these unless you back up the old ones to a computer first and then copy them over to the new card. Tech support at the number above can walk you through this, or I can, if you get the card from us.

If your unit was bought before July 23rd, or if it was a refurbished-discounted unit, you can call or get the update directly from us here:

-Question- does the external antenna help the GPS to be more accurate or takes less time to find satelites

You are correct - we installed the new maps on all units here last Wednesday.

The external antenna does not enhance the GPS for you significantly unless you drive a lot in New York City or a similar situation where you are often surrounded by huge buildings and extreme electronic activity. For 95% of GPS users the built-in antenna holds your position just fine. If you do find it losing the signal or showing a "strange" position on any recurring basis then it may be something to try though. They are $29.

Make sure that you set up your truck profile properly per the "cheat-sheet" that we put in the box to get the most accurate routing. We can help you with that if you want by giving us a call at your leisure.

    Thanks!
