Looking into a couple of local intermodal companies and they offer percentage pay...is that a good way to go?...they also claim I will make nothing less than 1000 a week is that possible?

I personally wouldn't even consider doing intermodal for percentage pay as a company driver...

I currently do Intermodal and with all the delay time and back-ups at rail yards plus the traffic out on the roads and waiting to be unloaded and loaded sometimes, not even close to being worth it...

Hourly pay is the only way to go

on percentage do you really know what the rate is or what they owe you ??

All you know is what they tell you in most cases, unless a lot of what you do is COD like what I am on..

How will the Carrier bill detention pay...aggressively...?
(no one likes to spend a lot of time working a single load...Carriers like to work loads)

Unless their providing a copy (COPY!!) of the confirmation so you can verify the rate, then I'd say NO.....I once asked two percentage drivers (same company) how much they were paid (%) and how much they made per week ($)....one said he had a DEAL at 40%, the other said 30%....they both said the usually cleared $1,000 per week.....this is not uncommon.......

Can you make $1,000 per week in Chicagoland pulling containers...YES, and more....are Chicagoland trucking companies notorious for....ahem....creative math....yeah...

This. I remember waiting hours to get a container pulled off or one put on a chassis and not to mention any repairs that needed to get done to a chassis pool pos. No way I would touch a percentage type situation with intermodal.
