Two new trucks from Paccar, I think the new Pete 579 is to replace 386 (and not 389) and the other is new generation of "anteater" T-660. Interesting how both are getting similar to "wide cabs": Peterbilt 587 and KW T700, it will be interesting to see pricing because I don't really see much of a difference now - its mostly in the sleepers?

They look more like successors to the 387 and T660 to me. They couldn't ugly up the 386 that fast and expect to sell any.

The Pete comes with standard disc brakes. If only it didn't come with a boat anchor for an engine. Maybe they'll make it as a glider. Yeah right!

It is confusing... 387=587 has nothing to do with this new, blue 579 above. Two different product lines. It's going to replace 386 when true classic 389 will be probably slowly fading away...

On the KW side, interestingly it looks like T660 replacement (yellow T680 above) will drop Studio-Sleepers... I think one of major selling points. Not sure what is the deal with this model but... I think it is actually tricky way to introduce new "900"

If thats correct, we can say one thing - Peterbilt is keepig it's old appearance (at least some cues) when KW... is dropping it. That's why Pete is and always was the king:biggrin_25525:

That 579 has the optional 3 piece bumper...Just like a Shaker....I guess Pete is trying to recruit the type of driver who would own a Shaker....I wonder if tie-wire and duct tape are options as well....:biggrin_25525:

I noticed that as well, it is disgusting sign of times... When you think of 579 as a 379 descendant... with 3 piece bumper... :biggrin_25521:

They just don't want to provide free advertising for Cummins, I'm sure 70% of whole production will have red power instead of MX - they just want to push this Euro-POS as thats where their money is

It's no 379 descendant....It's what happens when the engineers from Pete, KW, and Shaker, all get drunk and come up with a hideous beast of a rig..... :biggrin_25513:

Here's what happened that weekend....[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=18eaNSxhK5c[/ame] Notice "Dean" Ray LaHood walked in on them.....

Those are some of the ugliest trucks ever made. Gotta love that bananna yellow?! They are probably "loaded" with a nice auto and 400 hp paccar engine just to sweeten the package.

Long live the 389 and W900
