Does this also include the homemade units including generator,a/c,etc, or do they just recognize the factory purchased units?

I just don't know but you should be able to search for the actual federal rule. Then it will be clear as mud.
Third3y3guy Thanks this. -
Actually, I've never heard of anyone being whacked for being 400 pounds overweight even without an APU.

Well id like to make my own, but that is the only thing that is stopping me is whether they will recognize it or not. I pull a hopper o.t.r so i get paid by the ton and 400 lbs. is not something im just willing to give up, and from reading the link you gave me meathead it sounds like the states have there own individual laws because the federal one was not a mandate so they dont recognize it. Guess i would have to look up each law in the states i run to find out, and boy what a pain that's gonna be.

a little loud is'nt it ?
had a coleman years ago, it was LOUD -
I use this setup, Honda eu2000 generator charges batteries when running, 6 gallon aux fuel tank, $20 ceramic heater from wal mart, will buy a $250 portable ac from home depot soon, works for me total cost, $1500, looks home made, passed a level 1 inspection without any questions about the setup, also have a microwave, coleman 12v cooler, tv, i use a 1000w inverter when engine is running. Gererator already paid for itself.

nice idea but will not work for me sighs

Doesnt the portable A/C unit need an open window to get fresh air or can it run in an enclosed area? -
Almost the same set up I have, only diff is I only have a 3 gal external gas tank. (still with the 1 gal on gen and extra 3 that 4 gal will last at least 15 hrs with the gen on high speed.)
Just an fyi..when you get an a/c unit you might want to make sure you get a heavy duty extension cord. I had a regular one and it used to get warm. bought a heavy duty one at the home depot (plus it has a three outlet end on it, so I don' t need a power strip)
