    Specifically, may ,I after complying with my 10 hour break, "satisfy myself that the vehicle is safe" ( lights, fifth wheel, brakes to be sure ) then roll 300 yds. to the pumps and complete the PTI while fueling?

    I would and that's just the way many drivers do it.

    ETA: So long as your time at the pumps doesn't delay any other drivers waiting to fuel. ;)

    The point you make is a good one, but this part is crap. What regulation requires a driver to demonstrate a pretrip to an officer during an inspection?

    Look at the average they're training there, tho... I felt like Billy Madison when I was there.
