I just got into the reefer scene about a month now, bought a 2006 3000R with a Carrier Ultra XTC, its an ex Marten trailer. I noticed that I don't hit the set temp on continuous mode, only on start and stop. Same thing loaded or empty. Has anyone experienced this before or knows what I need to do to get this corrected? Any input will be greatly appreciated.

Continuous - This is the lowest box temp I will get on 36 degrees

Now when it hits 36 box temp on Start/Stop and shuts off and I change it back to Continuous, it'll go into heat mode and go back up to a box temp of 39-40 box temp.

At that temp around low and mid 30's the unit will "cautiously" cool so as not to risk any freeze damage of sensitive products with output air too cold. With loads that might have been stored about 40 (or warmer) it can take 36-48 hours to ever get the entire load's core stabilized and lowered and hit the set point. I've seen this before but not had any issues.

As far as empty, this may not be an indication of anything wrong either. Others with more experience might chime in with other better explanation.

I believe Protect Fresh should be turned (0-OFF) or (3-C) see page 37 of the owners manual CLICK HERE.

For FUNCTIONAL CHANGE (PARAMETERS) goto page 34.

If you screw up goto page 45 and reset the unit to factory defaults.

I saw something about that before, the different modes A,B,C...I'll have to check that out in the morning. I'm pretty sure this is what has to be adjusted. Thanks for the quick info!

Oo that makes sense too. I haul produce so I wouldn't want that to freeze on me.

Produce should not be run in start/stop

I know that, was just trying to figure out why the unit only hit temp in that mode and not continuous. But it's good to go now that I changed the parameters.

I haul cucumbers, tomatoes, and pepper all the time, we always run on start/stop set at 50 degrees and never had a rejection from temp.
