I think it will be a little late to save the name . When it's not having problems, it's not a bad set up but my company will never buy another. We have moved to Volvos and freightliners. I like the ProStar's and hope they will buy them again with the Cummins motors

Both my turbos have been replaced under warranty by the 70k mark, but new trucks can have problems like that. I too have watched the international youtube vid on how to shift these 13 motors, much improved since. Now the unit is broken in it makes better power and is growing on me. 180000kms now and pulling well. When revved up my buddy pulled away on me on hill but as it came down onto 1300 then 1200 and 1100 it held onto him even tho he had more cubes and bigger hp numbers. It is quiet tho...looking for a silver lining....wanna buy a truck?

Hi, I'm about to buy a truck. I need some help to decide between an international (2012, maxxforce,270000miles, 10 spd, extra 2years/200000 miles factory warranties) or (international, 2009, cummins 435 hp, 440000 miles, 10 spd). The main thing for me is reliability. Thanks.

Sorry to say both those trucks are pos..... The 2009 are the dpf only trucks ..crap!
And the 012 maxxforce is just as bad if not worse.

Please do some research on these trucks. Get an ECM printout . And warrantee repairs......

The Cummins is about due for everything such as EGR cooler, doser injector and DOC/DPF cleaning or replacement. It is also at the age where all the gremlins are coming out to play. The Maxxforce is due also for an EGR cooler if it hasn't had one yet. So either be broke down and pay out of pocket, or be broke down with some warranty coverage. If you need absolute reliability to stay ahead of bills and payments, then neither of these is really the best choice.

We have several customers with Freightliners and Westernstars with Detroit DD15 and DD13 engines. 2009 to 2012. They are very happy with them. They have a fraction of the down time compared to Prostars with Maxx's or older units with 871 Cummins.

    Stormdriven and Karim31 Thank this.

Yes, I wanna a truck with no restrictions on where I have go. The more I read & search the more confused I get. What tuck engine combination would give me less headache (downtime/$$$$)?
