returned to Ontario today and the weigh stations outside of Toronto on the 401 were both packed with gravel trucks. Sign on one of the trucks read Strike Over Axle Limits. Anyone know what's going on?

Lowball truckers who are finally being held to the weight limits ... not being able to read English printed rules is no longer a excuse .. put axle weight gauges on truck and trailer issue goes away but after years over getting away running heavy they cry now that the have to follow previously lax rules ...

It's not really about running heavy, it's the fact that the driver has little control over where the loader operator puts his scoops. It's also about not having a scale at the pit where axles can be individually measured. So now that the government wants to be strict with axle weights, the gravel haulers want the loaders to do a better job.

    awww the foreigners are complaining?

I wish the government would make everyone re write the test to obtain their licence. Half of these nitwits don't even know what a slack adjuster is.

    Pullin2 and magoo68 Thank this.

“We just want a solution,” said Jagroop Singh Bangli, a two-truck owner-operator who was involved in organizing the fight, as he divided his peers into teams for the next stage of the protest. “We don’t want to take any more tickets.”

“When we go to the pits and get loaded, we don’t know how much they’re loading, how they are loading us,”

Ever hear of a ####ing gauge for your axle weights?

    Pullin2 Thanks this.

They've finally driven the rates so far into the ground that now they can't even make money at it.

Jim Park said properly spec'd trucks were doing fine. But a certain segment of the industry were driving cheaper used highway tractors with only 12,000 lbs front axles and think it's not fair to get a ticket for putting 14,000 lbs up there. Or 2,000 extra on the drives instead.

Those cheaper used highway tractors held together with bungees shouldn't be on the road anyways.

They can make money. Just as long as they don't need to replace a light bulb. That will wipe out any profit for the day
