I'm on a mission to top off the oil in a 2006 Peterbilt 335.
I CAN'T FIND THE OIL FILL FOR THE LIFE OF ME!
Dipstick says 1/2 full. I found what I think is the coolant tank on the passenger side above the windshield wash tank. On the driver's side, the dipstick. That's it. I can't find the oil cap. I poured over this truck for better than 40 minutes and now I'm annoyed. Wouldn't the oil be over the pan on the driver's side near the dipstick?

Check the top of the valve cover.

What engine?

It may be the same tube as the dipstick. Does your dipstick have a big head on it with a screw fitting to tighten it in the tube? If the dipstick tube is about 3/4 to 1 inch in diameter then it is most likely also the fill tube. If it is very narrow then it is not.

Sometimes they'll put an oil filler spout off the front timing cover as well. It might even be hiding around the top of the frame rail, near the dipstick. One place I worked at had an '06 335 w/Cummins ISC and now that I think about it, I seem to recall the oil fill was in a pretty goofy spot.

Sometimes the filler caps are marked with the number "710" on it.

Finally got oil in the thing today. Peterbilt should consider a flashy way of saying, "Put oil here," by embossing an oil can icon on the lid, or maybe even the word, 'oil.'
Ridiculous.
