yes and no , yes alot less junk hanging on the motor, the motor will breathe eaiser and you get rid of those dang accuators. i have a buddy that did the conversion we ran together right after he did it i out pulled him grossing 3000lbs more than him and all i have is a Haney tune and pdi manifold. he is getting about 3/10 of a mile better fuel milage than me. but i have a heavy foot. he had atrim in greencastle do the conversion the bill was a little over $12,000 with a new cac.
Yes, I know all about the problem truck. it was that truck not BD.. mine fired up in 2 sec. no codes. like it was born that way. only thing i notice so far is that it's not quite as strong in the low end as my Acert with the BD tune . I suspected my high pressure turbo was on it's way out and faced with the replacement cost of both turbos or doing the conversion for a little more money I chose to convert. used a BW turbo not the BD.
yeah i going around and around with cat right now on my top turbo. replaced the first one right before i overhauled it (reman turbo) after over haul i was using 3 gal. of oil in 10,000 miles thought i had messed something up found out the remans are junk. it was leaking oil into the exhaust. replaced with another reman, it's not leaking oil but the flang that the cold side housing clamps to is warped leaking a little boost. like banging your head on a wall trying to get cat to stand up to it.
