Don't consider western, its a bad decision no matter how ulook at it.
History of lawsuits. https://dockets.justia.com/search?query=Western+Express+Inc
Breach of contract is common among lease purchase drivers. Cuz they promise u the best miles and the ####tiest routes. Picking up...rocks 10 miles away from the grand canyon. A very very very unstable load. Delivering cased pipes 200 miles away from the north pole in Canada and i have heard of drivers not getting paid the miles as soon as their tires set ground in the canada border.
Not only they have a 200% driver turn over but they got a 130% turn over in their mechanics also (mechanical degree getting paid slave wage and no overtime).
They've got a team of "driver support" of whom uve got to fight multiple rounds for ur detention and layover which ull never get. They will say "ull get paid $130 bucks for waiting on that amazon load" and when the time comes to pick it up ull find out another driver has already picked it up, or ur pickup ### is not valid. Then they will void ur load assignment and send u another load assignment thats already ready. And its 2 miles away from u. Not only u will not get paid for the empty 300 miles that u ran, but u also wont get paid for the layer over because ur dm will say "my boss, Mr. Sir Executive DM said that u got a load the same day".
Forget about their so called "premium benefits" cuz ull never get a chance to sign up for it. The opening is 1 week every year and it starts from December 24 to 31.
Payroll is not in part with everybody. And i mean everybody. Thats why u have an average waiting time of 45 minutes. They dont even pay their dispatchers the correct amount.

And...I'm sorry...I did read any further than the Canada not. WESTERN EXPRESS doesn't go to Canada...FOR ANY REASON. At least that's what they tell me...and I've been there since August 20th 2013...
WESTERN...or any company for the most part is what you make out of it.
I cuss everyday...but I'm still here. Because I've cussed at ALL the rest already...there's ZERO difference.
So wherever you go, make the best out of it. You're not gonna get rich with any of them.
The is as much a lifestyle as it is a job.
Remember that...it'll make life so much easier. This is NOT FOR EVERYONE. -
I work for a small company (20 drivers) and make a FIXED pay of $1775 a week. I dont get paid by the mile, nor do I count the miles. Its not percentage, it is fixed pay.
I can also tell your still in your rookie years, if not then why the hell your still with Western? What I do and did is research gathering. You best bet that I will be at court when OOIDA battles the FMCSA to take down the elog mandate.
And your wrong, you call that a lifestyle? Cuss and fight everyday? Thats slavery driver. On my end, what I do is art.
See the thing is, your the joke in western's eyes, and you dont even know about it. They are not a stepping stone, hell they are not even dirt! That you can build yourself a future.dog-c Thanks this. -
I seen a truck stop that had a sign that said no western express trucks at the entrance

They have a lot of ads on Craigslist, some indicating 'performance pay up to 50 CPM and 2 days off weekly'. I'm new to this, but know that is unlikely to happen. From the ad .............
Performance Pay up to 50 CPM, 2 Days Off Weekly!
- Minimum Weekly Pay! Earn up to $1,000+ weekly!
- Home Weekends!
- Average 2,400 miles per week
- Paid Vacation
- No mileage bands
- 100% Drop & Hook Freight
- EXCELLENT BENEFITS. You'll enjoy quality health, dental, and vision starting as soon as 30 days. So you won't have to wait 90 days like a lot of companies

the key words to look at: up to, and average. When I ran for Western F/B, I did get pretty decent miles and made decent checks. What I didn't like, and really couldn't stand was the disrespect from shippers and receivers. They've had LOTS of inexperienced drivers come thru there places and just generally treated drivers like 2nd class. The 2nd thing that bothered me there was getting home. I would generally stay out for a month, and my 1st day back I would tell them when I needed to be home again, yet it was always a fight, with me ending up on the short side too often. So it was not a good fit for me, and I went elsewhere.
Always look at the ads you are reviewing for a place to work. Up to, and average are warning signs. Yeah, there are drivers making that, but its not going to start out that way and you are going to have to work at it to get near there. Good luck and safe travelsmjd4277 Thanks this. -
