I got a warning for that once too. If it get ripped or gets blasted off by pressure washer it's best to keep it nice looking.

Texas is known for some of the stupidest crap most other states wont even bother you for. I got a ticket for no reflective on the back of cab and improper mudflaps. They were flapping in the wind. I didnt see one texas plated truck that had something to keep their own mudflaps from flapping in the wind.

    See FMCSR 393
393.5 includes this definition..."Reflective material. A material conforming to Federal Specification L-S-300, “Sheeting and Tape, Reflective; Non-exposed Lens, Adhesive Backing,” (September 7, 1965) meeting the performance standard in either Table 1 or Table 1A of SAE Standard J594f, “Reflex Reflectors” (January, 1977).
Did the officer perform the prescribed test? https://law.resource.org/pub/us/cfr/ibr/005/sae.j594f.1977.html
393.9 and 393.11 include specific guidelines and finally...Did the officer perform the test as described in the regulation? https://law.resource.org/pub/us/cfr/ibr/005/sae.j594f.1977.html
