2 of our drivers got a unsecured load violation. Cause on their coil they had the oval type that the chains were attached to. Told by the d.o.t. that only the triangle type can be used and the oval is only good for hooking straps.

Also the tie downs are only good for 2 years. I talked to a rep from t.m.l. in Walton ky. They say d.o.t is wrong. What say you ?

    I'm interested in this.
I'd think a call to Reinouer would be in order.
For the record, I think the d.o.t. is wrong and I hope you pursue this to the end. Please keep us posted.

Not to speak for the OP, but they're the tiedowns that go in the channels in the aluminum floor.

yeah that's it. they say that type in pic is only good for strap. and all of the j hooks are only good for 2 years? like I say the trailer dealer say's b.s. I talked to my co today from corporate, they said they will fight & back us up all the way on this. I an going to pick up my new trailer next week & was wondering if I should pick one type J hook over another. i.m.o. if either is good, I would rather have the oval type, cause then I can use chains or straps.

I'm interested in the response to this as well. Not so much the style as the date issue...

I say its awfully hard to convince D.O.T that they are wrong. Hope your company wins.

Guess all of our Reitnouer J hooks just became 1 year old since there is no date stamped on them that I see. At $19.50 a piece that's an awful expensive piece to replace if its perfectly good
