I was told that it will fry the ecm in the 05 and up trucks. This was a cb shop in Memphis. He would not sell me the kicker because of this.
    Has anyone ever heard that?

Ive heard it could but ive never had a problem route your wires away from electrical component's directly to battery with a fuse inline coming off battery.

I would not let some knob "peak n tune" your radio either. If you clip the modulation limiter, you will overmodulate the radio and the poorly built cb amp, (most have no filtering), will just amplify the garbage and cause all kinds of problems. Im not sure why you think you need that much power, but try to keep it clean, and save yourself some headaches...

I have galaxy 98 so I was going to buy a radio and kicker
He said mine was doing 220 watts and clean but I like to go big he wouldn't even try to tune mine any. So I would think losing a 1000 dollar sale maybe he knew what he was talking about

Did run 1.2K for years not a single problem!!!
Like poppapump said run your wires correctly and it shouldn't be a problem.

Btw i ask CB shop the one on ch 5 to have a look on a Galaxy DX 95T2 that i had, they told me "sorry your radio is in bad shape it's good for the trash leave it here will throw it away for you" don't remember why i brought it there but one thing for sure my radio wasn't trash.
I still have it to this day, and i have never done any business with these peoples.

Dude probably might your gonna fry the amp driving it with a 98 you would need at least an 8 pill with 2879s which would put out well over 1000 and a big strain on your alternator.

Dont laugh but if you want a great setup get a cobra 29 done right with a texas star 667v or a fatboy 1x4.

Yes, its possible. Its caused by common mode current. It happens when rf radiates off the outside of the coax, and gets into your electrical system and possibly your ecm. Running high power increases the probability.
