Yup most people think the exports are better but only offer extra gimmicks and they will receive better but run an amp with a cobra or uniden and exports cant touch them almost all keydown comps are won by cobras.

I wasn't going to run my 98 I was going to get a low powered galaxy. So I was looking at about 700 to 800 watts

I have ran 1400 watts on my 2001 classic with no problems

So I didn't think I would have a problem running 800 watts on my 09 volvo
And the cb shop was the one on channel 5 razorback cb shop

Ray's, across from the McDonalds will steer you right. He has been doing radio work for years and knows what he is about. Channel 5 CB shop, on the other hand, has never had a good reputation. I wouldn't let them touch my radio.

Someone tell us who had an ECM fry because of an amp with proof it was the amp.

It is highly unlikely to happen let alone going to unless there are other mitigating issues with the truck, like a hacked wiring harness or some physical hack on the ECM itself.

The amount of testing that is done on ECMs is amazing, especially with electromagnetics.

As for running a kW in the truck, that's plain silly.

I know the grounding in the newer trucks leaves a lot to be desired. It is kind of hit and miss in the older Cascadias up thru about 09-10 seems like.

I know in the '80's there was a lot of talk about "dem dang computers going out" on vehicles that ran a little "extra helper" . BUT like Ridgeline said, there is a lot of testing and things have changed a lot in the last 30 years. I have talked to several that are running big boxes and haven't had any issues.....................

Biggest problem now is getting an efficient antenna system.
