So another question for the Cat guys: What's the best RPM to run these old 3406's (A and B) for best fuel mileage? Considering that the A is a fuel pig anyways.

I was told by a Cat shop that you can pull a B down to 1200, but they also don't mind being buzzed.
    Lots of help, right?

    AModelCat Thanks this.

Probably not for another week or so. Got called back to work now that the fires are gone from the area.

I don't know if i would pull a B or an A model down that low, peak torque happens around 1400rpm.

Been a while since I studied engine theory but isn't peak torque where you want the engine to run for best efficiency?

My solid 30 minutes of effort today:

Took out the stereo bracket, horn lines/valve, fan, wig wag and all the wiring in the roof. Just have to finish up a couple things in the dash and its fully gutted.

Was messing around with the truck again today. Noticed these 2 bolts inline with the cab rivets along the door jam. Would I be correct in saying these were used for a grab handle originally?

It's possible, but they're awfully close to that raised portion.

Bean Jr. and AModelCat Thank this.
