Fairly significant snow event looks like is going to develop across northwestern Wyoming into central Montana. Models show this event ongoing for 48 hours +/- beginning early Tuesday timeframe. Travel likely to require frequent chaining across I-90 between Billings and Butte. Early in the season, there is little residual salt to assist snow melt.

Cross country runners to/from the northwest might want to think about running 80/84 as an alternative to traversing Montana this early to mid week. Your "point of no return" divergent point later may have already been passed if headed west (Chicago). But be advised, regardless.

Temperatures will still be relatively warm. Night time travel across the higher passes will be the most problematic. A lot of moisture. Hopefully temperatures will be warm enough to keep snow accumulations short lived and only a problem during and shortly after the heaviest precipitation events.

Here is another thing to think about... I 90 bridge where it meets I15 is closed. Apparently it is falling apart. If you are going east or west your best bet west bound is to exit hwy 287 at the pilot in three forks and take highway 12 over to garrison junction. East bound best to exit at garrison junction and take 12 to 287 back to 90.

If you are looking to go north on i15 just run up to the bridge and turn right... LOL

If you are wanting to go south on I 15 then your best bet is to exit at White Hall and take that to dillon and get back on I 15 there. Same thing is you are wanting to go east on 90. exit in dillon to twin bridges and then up to white hall.

East bound is the most effected there at the bridge because they have to route you up to boulder and then back to cardwell. West bound you go up the hill, exit, cross over and then come back down the hill.

^^^ Did not know that. It's been a few months since I've ran across there. We're coming into that time of year where mysterious forces will collude and somehow I'll end up running across I-90 one direction or another, 2-4 times a month
