Ive got around 700k. Freightliner columbia 2007 Got a shake around 45mph that has progressively gotten worse.
Ive had alignments done but, my wear pattern on my steer tires is so weird I don't know how to describe it.
Thought about going ahead and getting em done next week.
Are there any sure signs of bad kingpins?

I think if you jack up each front axle, and wiggle them left to right, up and down - see if there's any play.
They should have checked for wear before alignment - how long ago? -
Yep those are the same symptoms i had and like blairandgratchen said jackem up and check for play
-
Front tires can wear weird if you do not keep the tires inflated properly and if that comes about it can cause some shaking.
It can happen on the drive tires too. -
Blair, last alignment was roughly 13months ago……I'm gonna go ahead and get em done……

Tires will show a cupping pattern. Jack the front end up to 3 or 4 inches off the ground and take a long bar or pipe and put it under the tire. With hood open lift up on the bar and look to see if there is any movement in the kingpin's.
OldHasBeen Thanks this. -
yeah there is cupping, and kinda like a river pattern in there also…..

You need to find a better shop. A good tech can pretty much tell you what is wrong just looking at the wear pattern.
-
Sounds like bad shocks and/or worn shackle bushings. Just a guess without seeing the tires.

Thanks for all the responses guys! Yes, grapeApe, mine looks like the cupping wear for steer tire on page 59. Before I break down and just thrown money at the problem im gonna see if a good tire/alignment shop can tell me exactly what my issue is....Im also gonna try to add some pictures on here....
