"Self driving truck!!"
Driver behind the wheel. -
So the pic from the article shows him in the sleeper while the truck is driving. I need to re-read the law because I thought a driver still had to be behind the wheel.
magoo68 Thanks this. -
Note also all that crap disrupting the areodynamics of that nice rig. What a waste.
I have a hard time with a truck called "Otto." wtf is that? Daisy? *Pukes. -

I hate to give the engineers a hard time. I applaud that they wanna create the truck of the future. But 120 miles aint trucking.
They really should think back to what the Chinese are doing with large vehicles in city traffic. One in particular involves rails on the median and shoulder and elevate all of it to 15 or 20 feet above the entire traffic problem. Easy. Imagine 4 or 6 truck loads elevated above NYC traffic and breezing into the city. It still have to be unloaded.
Winter is here. Chaining up is a problem. I guess the computer truck can be left on the snowdrift until spring. Just dispatch a second rig and repeat until reciever gets what he needs to restock our bare shelves.
This kind of stuff is why I don't get involved with the People actually trying to build this stuff, they don't want to hear the common sense and practical reasons why it wont work over 1200 miles, not just 120. Freaking 120 miles makes him a local beer man. Big deal.
And finally but not least. Issue a license to a computer truck, dispatch same over 1200 miles east, hit a scale. Who does the DOT man write a ticket to? In fact there are no computers inside DOT scalehouse that can examine another computer mounted on 18 wheels. Much easier to inspect humans.
I am brewing coffee as I write this. I promise to behave soon. But I just love dancing on the engineers today... give em a hard time.
