What you make depends on how hard you work, they only offer what you what is considered the average based on driver performance. Even at .38 cpm running at 2500 miles per week is 950 gross, less tax comes to $750 per week. then you have to consider what it cost to live on the road per week....$ 150 per week leaves about 600 going back to the house...

600 buck per week is an annual household income of $30,000.00 and will barely support a family these days with the rising cost of living. My expenses are at least 2600 per month and I have no kids...(children have needs too)

A lot of drivers are underpaid for the work they do, companies should be paying drivers a min of $.50 cents per mile to work/sleep and live in a truck. ( $60,000 annually)

Living on $400 a week would be more than enough to sustain a comfortable and decent life.

    I have $650 a month rent, and I drink/eat out somewhat regularly.

Add in a large, hungry dog and a truck that gets 14mpg and I still have money left over.

Anyone that can't make ends meet is living beyond their means or mismanaging their money.

    Real Talk.

I would use Knight as a platform to getting on with a tanker or LTL company. Unfortuantky that's counter-productive for drivers as a whole because it keeps the door revolving and wages low. No matter how much you make at Knight, you can always earn much more and work far less pulling a tanker or working for an LTL company. There are plenty of non haz mat and food grade tanker companies if you don't want to mess with chemicals.

If it's not to late for you, check out RUAN Transportation. They are a dedicated company that provide transport services for a wide variety of companies.

400 bucks a week is chump chagge.... $ Gas 100 per week, food 150 per week, rent & utilities....400 barely keeps you are living in poverty.

The OP said he had a family....who can support a family on 400 bucks a week unless they are on gov't assistance...

    Good Luck Bro...
