There are quite a few of us who hold either a Class 1 or 3 but don't drive. Myself being an example. Most truck shops require their techs to hold a minimum of Class 3 with air.

Analyzing the statistics and data is difficult. Its almost impossible to determine the breakdown of longhaul, line haul, city and other, as well as how drivers are being paid. I don't review other sites. I simply analyze the vehicle registration numbers and licenced driver statistics provided on government sites. They're far more accurate.

 

This is true. Even management does in many cases. Its the attrition that's a problem. But the industry never addresses the root cause of the problem. Therefore, we're better off saying there's a shortage of drivers that want to be exploited. Which was my original comment.
