Hey I'm Mikey in new to the industry I have no experience.
My plan is to operate a box truck under 26000lbs I was told by the fmcsa that I only needed to have a dot number to be a intrastate driver. I feel like there's more to it than that.
Any answers would be great. Thanks

Thats right.
Still need fire extinguisher, triangles, vehicle inspection etc. Not sure about med card.
Make sure the registration is correct and high enough. -

Follow the signs at the weigh station.
Do a search on here, all hours of service subjects have been covered many times.
I believe you would follow state laws regarding insurance. But a call to FMCSA should get you the correct answer. -
Thanks a lot man I appreciate the answers.

You will need to have a current medical card.

Med card is required. I always entered the scale houses if they were open. Usually got the pass through but better to be safe than sorry. Logs not required for under 200 air mile radius trip but you're still required to obey HOS regulations. I always ran logs to be on the safe side as well. Doesn't take much effort to keep paper ones up to date. If you're leasing/renting from Ryder or Penske or w/e the truck should have everything required in it as far as safety devices and inspections and what not but it's still important to check and be familiar with regulations. I've been level 1'd in a Ryder under-CDL rental before...
