Does anyone know what the current idle policy is at Swift?

    18%.

That is less than 90 minutes of idle time for 8 hours driving.

What do they do if you exceed that?

They ask you to try to get your idle time down and tell you you were at 78% idle time. Oops.

    DoubleO7 Thanks this.

If they fired everyone that had high idle times they would not have many drivers left.

My idle has been on the hight (very) side since I started, nearly 5 years ago.
I was even written up for it, once, a few years ago.
It hasn't even been mentioned in at least a year.

There are more important things than idle time, like being on time and staying safe/accident free.

First things most companies will do is eliminate any ,fuel, mileage, performance bonuses.

Do drivers to be safe and well rested?? It was over 11 years ago, but when I was with Schneider, I just ignored the idle time and got my sleep so I could be safe. I never got my bonus, but I did nt get fired for turning a truck over either. Worrying about your bonus can cost you your base pay and career.

Below 20 degrees and over 70 degrees idle as much as you can, otherwise just make a conscious effort to not be wasteful.

^what I was told in orientation a couple weeks ago.

Is that a company rule, or just common sense?? I think my sleeping bags are rated at 10 degrees. I can be reasonable.

Not sure but from my past backpacking trips I can tell you the ratings on sleeping bags are sometimes a little optimistic lol
I think that is very, very loosely the policy, they didn't seem too concerned about it. I've talked to a few drivers I met about this, one who had a 70% idle rate. Guy said his Qualcomm blew up with messages for awhile but nothing really came of it.
