From what I here, food service guys do more lumping than driving.

Read the Foodservice Rant Thread further down the list if you want a taste of the stuff they deal with on a regular basis. Good money, but you will earn every penny of it. Hard work, hard on your knees and back, hard places to get into and out of. Hard job. It is definitely a young man's game. But you will look like a professional wrestler and learn how to skillfully operate a 2-wheel dolly, which is a bonus I guess.

It's a good job if your not afraid of manual labor like most truck drivers.I do it and sure beats seeing how many miles you can run in a week to make a paycheck.

This is my personal favorite video, I think it explains things well, plus it's full of well what was at the time fancy shiny new equipment:

Hey @Mike2633, did you hear about the sting where Sysco was caught delivering perishables (including meat) to self-storage units? I'm not sure how to embed a video like you did, but it was pretty fascinating. And disturbing. The title is: Inside Sysco: NBC Bay Area News Special Report

I worked at sysco. They will burn your 14, if you're out of hours you won't drive but you'll go out with a guy who has hours and lump with him.
They will give you routes that are generated to take 16 hrs (go figure). Worst part is the weather. I pulled routes in 112 degree heat (palm Springs) which is a drop yard 100 miles from my house so on top of doing a 14 hr day I had a 200 mile commute. Until you get your own route that happens all the timeherring22 Thanks this.
