Terrible gas mileage on 12' T700...

is it a former trans am t700? i bought one in january. mine gets pretty poor fuel mileage as well, but i was in the 5's. its gotten better, I'm in the low 6's since the weather warmed up, but I'm of the opinion that trans am did none of the required maintenance on the engines. EGR cooler supposed to be cleaned every 80k, valves adjusted every 160k, def filter every 200k, dpf every 200k, also a number of sensors that need to be cleaned every 80k

 

I would bet you are right , the big fleets that are on trade terms with the Dealers don't spend one penny more than they have to on they're trucks , just enough to keep the Warranty intact.

 

exactly right, i know this first hand because the company i used to drive for was the same way. in fact if we as O/O's were as lax with the required maintenance schedule as these big companies are, the manufacturers would void our warranties in a heartbeat, but since fleets spend hundreds of thousands on new trucks every 2-3 years, they get away with it.

 

Yep ! My ex father in law now retired and gone was the truck engine manager for the cat dealer in Omaha and you should have heard the horror stories I heard about werners maintenance.

 

i can only imagine, the company i used to work for was a 500 truck operation and they were that way with their trucks, so i can only imagine what a megacarrier would be like...

 

Insane lube and drain intervals ...several Omaha fleets whom I wouldn't buy anything they owned .

 

Don't you guys actually get an ECM dump to see what the mileage is before you buy the truck?
