Hello, I have Volvo vnl670 with Volvo 465, using Michelin tires 275/80 r22.5. Somebody have experience similar truck using 11 r22.5? my question is about advantage and disadvantage on power and mileage for example.
Thanks, Walter

The 11r tires will result in a loss of fuel mileage due to the larger sidewall and flex.

As a Canadian I have found that 11r, a common Canadian size , can be difficult to find in the US. Last year I went from Georgia to Louisville Ky looking for steer tire. It was a weekend no one had one. I finally found a used, patched in Louisville at a place near the Loves. This was on my 2000 hino. Same box that is on the Volvo in the picture. You can get chinesse drives from the volvo dealers for about 285 cdn. Not sure but wont the different tire size chance your odo reading?

Tall rubber gives a better ride.... and mpg has more to do with speed, gears and driver than tire sidewall.

The rolling resistance is less for low profile for the same tire model with the same tread depth, etc.
The circumference and load capacity is greater for the same load rating tire in 11r over low profile. Larger circumference means less revolutions of the tire to cover a given distance, effectively lowering rpms in high for a given speed. We have a few trailers with 11r rubber as recaps.
As far as I know, steer tires are not to be reinstalled as steers if they have been repaired. I got a new set when the driver's side tire had a puncture.KB3MMX Thanks this. -
Well that's what I meant you just said it all fancy.
Also, you're correct, any reputable shop will not reinstall a patch/plug steer... the legalities of it, I'm not so sure. -

Ummm for all opinions, I will keep using low profile tires.
Thanks
