in my earlier years, i was asked to co-drive with someone out of school. i guess we can say, this was the first instance of the blind leading the blind. i was all of 30(ish) and he was 20, soon to be 21. i had maybe all of 5 months experience at the time.

we worked for NAVL (North American Van Lines, ComTrans Division), out of Etters, PA, with Ft Wayne, IN as the home base.

the kid was on my nerves like you would not believe.

i called my driver-coordinator, or what ever frigging title they had back then.

i told him to take "so and so" off my truck, or i will rip out his arms, both of them, and club him to death.

i was told to not touch him, and get to "the fort" (Ft Wayne ASAP)..
we were there in a day and a half.

they yanked his butt out, sent him to St. Louis, via Greyhound....i went onto my run...

    they listened to me..........

why Werner did not listen, who knows.

This is an issue I dealt with when I gave road tests at a particular company. I was told to pass them, irregardless of if I felt they were safe or not, they would "work with them later".

that is what NAVL did as well, they would ""recycle" those that were not doing well at all. how that kid i almost clubbed to death, ever made out, i could care less. he ground my trucks gears and i'd be looking out the passenger window for the parts along side the road, as we climbed the mountains in Colorado...

DHE won't let me do road tests on new applicants anymore.....they said they needed to hire drivers not chase them out!

I'm a tough ole bugger....when you lie to me about your experience!
