Lease-Purchase is such an old game. I've been around this business for almost 30 years, and I have never seen it work out. It's never a good idea to borrow money from an employer for anything. As soon as you do they have you by the b*lls and you are going to work your butt off and do it for cheap.
In the 80s it was North American Van Lines pulling this L-P stunt. And Overdrive was full of articles about how NAVL was ripping off the L-P Owner Operators. Back in the 70s when the Fairless Works of USS was running and there were flatbed operations all up and down Tyburn Road and Pennsylvania Av. You could go down there and buy a tractor if you had $25 in your pocket for a down payment, as long as you went to work for them.
It's always the same game, keep you hungry, and when you are getting close to paying the truck off they try to starve you so they can take the truck back. It's the P.T. Barnum school of business. "There is a sucker born every minute"

I know my spelling is not the best but am going to edit this... -
I've never had any problems about advances. I've not seen nor heard of any problems with breach of contract. And look whos talking about only his opinon matters. and apparently its easy for you to call me a liar from down in Georgia.Of course everyone should take you're word for EVERYTHING because yor're SUPERTRUCKER,knows all, sees all.
-
And now you can start by having a disscussion without the attitude, it only goes to prove anything negative about the people you work for because it looks like you have something to hide...
With my 20 years plus in this industry I have found that the the ones that come across like you have are the "super trucker" in that there is no way to appease them and have an answer for eveything or they get defensive and resort to name calling....If I am wrong prove it... -
NOW you are just getting around to the points he raised, and that I twice reminded you of.
You're not in their lease/purchase program. If you were, you'd have some decent information to offer. The best you can come up with, is..."I haven't heard of"....blah blah blah.
TransAm doesn't have the bad reputation that alot of companies that lease trucks to drivers have accumulated YET, but after digesting what little I know from doing a little digging, and from these exchanges, I don't think for a second that it would be adviseable for anyone to enter into that arrangement with TransAm. That's the bottom line. The program is not taylored with the driver's interest in mind. That makes them just as volatile as all the others, by ripping off a driver for a decent rate of compensation for the work performed.
I always tell people to NOT take my word on anything. Do your own research and arrive at your own conclusions. I'll back up at anytime, any stance I take on an issue, with the reason or the evidence that helped me arrive at a conclusion, and I always will. At the same time, I will also be very glad to retract any statement that I have offered that is in error, and will be happy to offer my humble apology to the party whom I challenge once proven to be wrong. Look through the forums. You'll see that I have indeed done this.
I don't get any good feelings about the things you have offered, and I absolutely think you are being very dishonest. I doubt that many people will disagree with my assessment. You're free to attempt to discredit my findings, but I'm not holding my breath that you will be able to.
I don't like taking an offensive stance with people, but remember one thing. No one twisted your arm to try and approach this in the manner you chose to do it. -
You're statement that I'm not in their lease program just cost you. That one is more than a statement of opinion. Yes I am in the lease program and have been for nigh on a year. And can prove it with contracts and papers. Now that I see that you will make out and out false statements, I can not bring myself to believe any statements you may make in the future. What else would you have me say. I cannot make statements of what I haven't heard or to what I haven"t seen. I have not a clue to what Werewolve was speaking of about the violations as I haven't spoken with any other Trans Am l/ps that have said any thing TO ME about these type of problems. As I stated before I personally have not ran up against this type of problem. I personally have not heard of this type of problem, with Trans Am, until I read it on this site. Yeah, I have that problem about coming on too strong. But thats my pesonallity problem, not Trans AMs. Yeah, a buck a mile and more is out there, but there again you have to watch how its being stated. a lot of the ads state an amount per loaded mile. Fine. What are they paying empty or deadhead? .84 cents a mile does sound cheap, but it is doable. You have to work, and work hard, but most drivers are already working hard. Yeah the boogie man statement may have been a little far, but when you you pull into a truck stop in the middle of the night and you have the inconsiderate people who will and DO take up two or three parking places with no consideration of others who also have been running hard and are in need of rest, it angers a person.Trans Ams home policy is very simple. Give them an eight day notice that you want to be home and they will get you there. In 15 mos. I have never had one problem in getting home. But then when I come back to work I put in for the next time I want off then and it gives them time to plan for it.You can't wait eight days and then just say I want to go home. Then they have to try to find a load, and it may take away from other hands already on a load that they may have to swap out costing that driver his mileage.Planning, cooperation, and communication is what it takes for success, not complaining. If I do have a problem I contact them and we work it out. No l/p for Trans Am is required to take any load. You can turn down any load for any reason. And I do. If it is not viable for my truck to run it, I won't take it.I siad before and I say again I do not know what you are looking for. It seems unless you are knocking a company or complaining about a company you all dont want to hear it.Anyway I got to go. A question for you. Explain to me why there are those who have and those who are completeing this program if it is a scam? You say you research. Good. The names are available that have completed this program. Speak with them and see how they did it. I am in your mind already a liar so it does me no good to keep up with this dialouge.

RIFLEMAN, you are probably walking on thin ice with Turbo, not that I would speak for him, his voice is strong enough. You need to tone down your posts, and need to address the issue, not attack the individual making the post. Essentially, however, he is correct in most regards, and you have done everything but call him a liar, meanwhile you are grasping at straws to defend your stance. Playing semantics isn't the way to win an argument. In fact, at the point you engage in an argument, you have lost.
>>Bottom line is that many drivers have had very bad luck with lease- purchase programs in general, why would Transam's be any different?
>>So, you are a successful lease-purchase driver, good for you. Join the ranks of only a handful of people who can make that claim! These programs are notorious for ripping people, and several, various lawsuits have been filed, and won, against lease-purchase programs. Perhaps some research should be involved to back up your statements.
...Turbo, take it from there... -
I will say no more elirose. i am not trying to argue. maybe its just the way i sstate things, i dont know. but i will not be scared away from stateing what i believe to be true. if i am on thin ice with turbo then what. i'm supposrd to be afraid and not say anything? is that what this forum is about?
