I have a 13 speed and I don't understand why it shifts itself from 12 to13 w/out using the red switch. It will also down shift itself from 13 to 12, but this only happens between these 2 gears. I have heard these tansmissions can be programed to do different things (I've only had this truck 3 months and I'm new at this). It is in an '07 pete 379. No grinding, weird noises, or hard shifting, I don't like this feature. Is this familiar to anyone, or is there something wrong with it?

    Is it an automatic shift?

It's not an automatic transmission. Eaton Fuller 13 spd. Don't know what all varieties are out there

Then you probably have a worn shift air splitter or slide clutch in trans. Let me guess it shifts when you let off the throttle.

It probably has the lightning top two I think its called. The last spilt is automatic. It can be turned on and off in the controller

Oh so it is kinda like automatic? I think I remember a boy had one of those a few yrs ago and yeah he just unplugged something to stop that.

The ones that used to be here were 9 or 10 speeds. I believe they were around 90-95 models and labeled as auto shifts. They only shifted the top two gears which were air controlled so probably a super 10. They normally worked well but you could pull the fuse for it if it was messing up or you just did not like it.

The 13 and 18 work just like the super 10's. Tgey can kinda get aggrivating on a small grade loaded light. If it says metric on the bottom and has a row of ribs from bell housing to tail shaft I bet that's what you have.

    Something rings a bell.

Do you have a overdrive or under drive? Meaning, if you are on the floor with the hammer hitting a slight grade with a underdrive enough to pull your rpms down it will shift half a gear for you when you let off hammer without using clutch?

There should be two switches from what I understand. Your high and low range is one, (Split axle is a third, but very rare shifting a axle sometimes just to confuse you...) and your under/overdrive is the other selector switch.

Or you can have a straight 13 speed with just a low and high. Who knows...

It must be the lighting top 2. It will shift even when the hammer is down. I'll see if I can turn it off. Thanks for all y'alls help.
