    i hear on xm that Transport America is now paying O/O $1.00 a mile for all miles

    really for $1.00 a mile my truck will sit at home

    From what I've seen on various trailers, $1.00/mi (plus fuel surcharge) is about average for dryvan O/O's who lease on to a common carrier. I've seen trailer ads that go from .91/mi all the way to 1.05/mi.

    What I don't understand is how those guys are surviving on such low pay and high expense. If I was an O/O, I wouldn't take anything less than 75% (their trailer) to 86% (my trailer). But I drag a flat, too. Rates are a bit different.

    A common rate for companies to pay in dry van drop and hook operations. They add the fuel surcharge to that rate but by the time they pay short miles etc.
