Does anyone know if trucks over 65 ft are allowed to go on Highway 88 and 49 from Stockton to Minden NV. I was taking Hwy 50 as it is just slightly longer but better hwy but I got a ticket recently for being over 65 ft and the only 2 other ways to go is hwy 80 which will be about 90 mi longer or hwy 88 which will be shorter in distance but alot of stop signs being there are alot of small towns to drive thru so maybe 65 ft or longer trucks are restricted. Google search didnt find answer Im looking for.

Thats what I found a few month back when I took that route but when I asked the chp who wrote me up on hwy 50 he told me 88 had restriction also. I just found a site http://www.aitaonline.com/Info/Road/Restricted Routes.html#California Restricted Routes and it has has restriction list for all states and for hwy 88 it has this so it looks like I may have to lump it over 90 extra miles over hwy 80 ....what a crock.....hwy 50 and 88 are both wide enough for my truck.... im about 70 ft and could be around a ft or 2 shorter if I move 5th wheel all the way up

Bite the bullet: I-5, I-80, U.S. 395. You're blocked by length restrictions on other "routes" (can't really call them truck routes) even though they're shorter; you'll offtrack like crazy--huge liability, not worth it. You'll burn more fuel and wear your brakes more on any short "route." I live in the Sierras, I know those roads (nice scenery), and I wouldn't even consider it. If you get caught again it'll cost ya. Insist on payment for the 5-80-395 route--there's no way a Stockton-Minden hop should pay 90 miles less. BOL.

interstates are always good safe choices.

Yeah, i've run all those roads up there, but not in a truck, except for US 50 between Carson City/Sacto. That's the best road out of the ones mentioned. But not for trucks.

All stretched out I'm 64'10"............ I don't sweat the Cali roads, but I do make sure the rate is up if they want me to run those roads as most other trucks aren't legal to do it and they will likely have to run an additional 100 miles or so to do it legally.

I lived in Minden for a number of years. Also do a lot of deliveries out in those hills.
A number of the roads you listed have sections that ARE restricted to 65Ft and are posted.
The best way in from Stockton to Minden is 5 or 99 to 80 to 395.
It will be a lot shorter time wise and an easier drive.Trucker61016 Thanks this. -
I live in South Lake Tahoe, CA on Hwy 50. It is restricted to 65 feet from Meyers to Polock Pines. Hwy 88 has the same restriction. You can be 75 feet long with doubles. One or two weeks a year CHP will randomly pull you over to check your length.
