Absolutely Not.You stop at the first sign when clear you go thru the second sign.If a cop ever sees you stop on tracks he will ticket you.

It's just common sense.
Just like all those county road intersections around here that have no stop sign in ANY direction. You've got to look before you get there, see that there's no stop sign for you OR for cross traffic, then assess the situation. It's usually dirt road intersections that someone has stolen the signs. You can see a dust cloud (if it's been dry) if someone is coming. If you can't see, you stop and look (even though you DO NOT have a stop sign).
Being safe is more important than following the letter of the law, because sometimes (as in the case of the railroad crossing right next to a highway intersection) the law, if followed to the letter, is not safe. You NEVER block the railroad tracks.Dye Guardian, 1951 ford and pattyj Thank this. -
There's an intersection like that out in Kansas City, if you know where the Isle of Capri casino exit it, going down that road east is a bunch of warehouses, anyway have to cross over RR tracks with a stop sign before and after the tracks. The after stop sign puts your trailer stopped on the tracks. The traffic does not stop so you have to time it just right to crest over the RR hump and keep slow rolling through the stop sign on the after side.
I look and look both ways, looks clear so begin my crossing, need to turn left on the road, see this big dump truck barrelling from the left toward me, I guess he thought I was gonna stop at the stop sign with my trailer dead stopped on the tracks, silly rabbit. Dude should'a had a little courtesy and knowlege that is rude to force me to do that illegal thing. I kept slow rolling and he had to lock it up and burn rubber skidding along to prevent the Tbone. Just rude to go that fast right there knowing trucks need to roll through that stop sign. -
Stop at 1st, wait till clear, then lay on the horn and run the 2nd stop sign. Easy to defend in court, plus I may piss off enough locals that they change the stupid intersection before someone gets killed.

EASIER TO ask Forgiveness then Permission. Stop short of the 1st ignore the 2nd.
Always better to be Judged by 12 then carried by 6 -
I stop a the first one wait for an opening in traffic and ignore the second one since it's unsafe to stop on the tracks. What happens if there is a sudden surge in traffic and you can't pull through or back up and a train comes? If I get a ticket for doing it then so be it but I'd rather not have my trailer torn in half by a train.

That second stop sign is for 4 wheelers, you did it correctly.

But how did you make a proper right turn after the second sign????
