USA trucking recruiter has told me they already called former employers and I see people on here talking about when they get to orientation the recruiter calls former employers
So do they check past employers and references befor or after you get to orientation?

It would be nice to know they check former jobs before one gets to Van Buren

Normally companies will check former employers before offering a job to you.

Just out of morbid curiosity how much are they starting new drivers at nowadays?
Back in 2004 it was $0.24 a mile.

If you are completely honest on your aplication it really shouldn't matter wether they call them before or after

I've always wondered that as well. They have all your information, why not just verify it before you leave the house?
Seen lots of guys shot down because something didn't pan out. Why waste everybody's time?

Your right, but I guess it's the law that all past employers have to be sent a verification form and filled out and sent back.

Yikes, I made that back in 1988, and back in 1978 when I got out of the Diesel Academy, I got lucky and landed a union otr job paying a percentage, avg. Low to mid .30 a mile for all miles m/t and bobtail to and from the terminal. A few Exclusive Use loads and you where doing fine.

@ $0.30 cents per mile by 550 miles with gold at $208.10 per ounce, it works out to .79 ounce of gold per day in 1978.

That same 550 miles today, with gold at $1,353.10 would need to pay a company driver $1.94 per mile today in 2016 to maintain the same standard of living as back in 1978.
And in order to pay the driver that amount of money the truck would need to charge $8 a mile
