You're saying don't go to CT running illegal axle spread? That the DOT there is actually enforcing the bridge law? The nerve!

A spread axle skateboard is fine. What are you supposed to do? Cut one off and weld it back on?

Isn't it funny how what's legal and OK in one state is a fine and forbidden in another.

Spread is legal, but if your trailer is longer than 48' the rear axle can't be more than 43' from the kingpin.

California sets that distance at 40'

    Its all about the money.

    Just get the annual permit.

Fla its only a $75 fine or $20 for annual.

Ct is $700 fine.. no idea how much the permit is. Fla os only place that ever hassled me on it. Cali never bothered me about it either. Had 4 or 5 inspections and never once did they measuer my king pin to center axle distance.
