Warren, MI to Buffalo, NY - Traverse Ontario?

For a US carrier, that has a drop in Warren, MI and final drop is in Schenectady, NY.

We do not "run Canada". We are however apportioned for Canada. What are the ramifications/issues of traversing Ontario with no freight on or off in Canada, to save miles? Driver only has a US passport and TWIC card.

I'm on such a load in SLC. I'm waiting on verification from carrier but their system originally routed me across Ontario and the shorter miles Vs. S to Ohio

 

I'm pretty sure whoever entered this load will see this was an oversight, and will rework the miles down and across Ohio and back up. I just wanted to make sure I got paid the extra miles or was explicitly told to cross Ontario, one or the other.
