i had QC's go out a few times, just fax previous 7 days at first truck stop and run paper, most of the time the QC was not down long enough for me to even do this, if u check the connections sometimes they get broken, get some zip ties and your set.
when you come in as a refresher you run paper for the duration of the refresher truck, just to show them you know how incase the QC goes dead.

This position wasn't a refresher. I was hired as an experienced and only went with an evaluator for 5 days before getting my own truck. The funny thing was..... the QC logs were still working for the duration. They had to send me to a Motorola repair shop.

Things break. Tires get punctures. Stuff happens. It's easy to complain about it, harder to work around it get the freight there on time and get paid.
I think one of the things that helps me is displaying the right attitude. When I need something, I ask for it. I've watched other drivers waddle in with an attitude and demand stuff. I'm never surprised when exactly no one goes out of their way to help them. It doesn't make any difference if it is their job or not. If you get snotty with someone you need something from, my experience is you will get slow rolled every time. That is just the nature of the best we are.
I try and make my life as easy and pleasant as I can. I admit I probably get better treatment than many other WE drivers. I get it because I give it. Please and thank you still go a long way.
Example: This morning on 75 just south of Cincinnati a pallet falls off a trailer. Thought I missed it but I picked up nails in both outside right trailer tires. I saw the sidewalls start to sag a few minutes after I tried to dodge the pallet. I limped it to the TA on the south side. QC'd it in took pix, and called breakdown. Please help and thank you + 45 minutes I have two new tires and still make my drop time.
I wish stuff didn't break. My QC is a relic. Resets itself somehow when I need it most. Next time I'm thru a terminal, I'll please and thank you it fixed.
That's just how I deal with stuff. It makes my life easier. If in my mind I'm calling someone a rectum ferret well that's just for me to know. -
i pretty much agree with this, that place drivers stay at on trinity ln is full of misfits that wouldnt be happy anywhere.

There is one thing that is consistently giving me a fresh case of red ###. Chasing empties. I manage my clock to get freight hauled. I haven't kept count but I'm going to start today tracking loss of revenue (mine) running around the country side looking for an empty trailer.

Also. Good for you, you needed 3 gps units and a smart phone(which is illegal to use while driving) to navigate, and somehow things worked out. Why should we be impressed? My qualcomm doesn't even have map software and I manage fine. Do you want a cookie or something? -
