What is an electronic shift transmission?

    I was browsing Maverick's site and they advertised this as being on their trucks:

    "Equipped with the latest Daimler engine technology and electronic shift transmissions, Maverick trucks are both fuel-efficient and powerful."

    Yes that would mean Eaton Ultra shifts. Not hard to drive but you do have to do somethinking when turning, RR Xing and backing will teach you throttle control or give you a case of whip lash:biggrin_2554:

    I believe the 2012 trucks are equipped with the Electronic clutch and Electronic shifter.

    It has its advantage over the older Eaton ultrashift.

    1. Clutch can stay engaged without having to use accelerator (now I can maneuver without the jerking )
    2. Shifting is now a lot smoother
    3. Progressive shifting was pre-programmed to gain fuel efficiency.

    It is a huge improvement over the previous model.

    hmm i wonder why the Allisons we use in the military havent made it to comercial use.Its literally like driving an automatic car. We even have them in the biggest of our trucks.ill take some pics

    usx stopped getting auto's because of THIS trans

    clutch's going out, trans locking in gear (have to be towed) three software upgrades in the last year trying to fix them

    Thats in my Bay right now. M916A3 this is a big boy.

    Automatic,2 switch Jake 2cyl 4cyl or both together, CTIS.

    With a good size load on the back lowboy it will still run 65 no problem

    it's a good trans for what you do BUT will it run 65+ pulling 80k 27/7 300 day a year for 1,000,000 miles and still get 6+ mpg...?

    the miles we OTR drivers (team) put on a truck a year (200,00-250,00) is a lifetime for your truck, 4-5 mpg is fine for the army but it's REAL hard for us to make money getting that bad.

    Years ago they did run them and they were junk. The military only builds for their use and most of the time they get that wrong.
