lets say you already learned the pattern on a eaton 10 speed but now you get a job that has a different truck and shift pattern, so how quickly does the average new driver learn the new pattern

    1 day
    1 week
    6 months orientation?

If you can shift a 10 speed and esp. float it then it should be fairly easy while in training. It all depends on you, your company and your trainer.

a day at most to get it down, month to years to get it perfect. drove 10 speeds for a long time then i was given a 13 speed. never even seen one, looked up "shifting a 13 speed" on youtube and took off down the road.

Depends on your profecincy with any tranny to begin with. Going from a "normal 10" that is 5 low, flip 5 high, to a super 10 or modified H, sure ya grind a couple till you can break musscle memory but a few hours should be enough ..

10 to 15 minutes, maybe 30 if I have to just move the truck a few times and not get it on the road.

And if anyone wants to dispute this, I drive different trucks all week long, most of them are 13/18 speeds but I've driven everything else from 6+1 to 8 speed to a 12 speed to a 6 plus dual stick Dana.

There are tricks to learning how to figure it out on the fly but to explain in a post may seem to be futile.

It will also depend on your experience level. If you have only driven ONE truck, and then put into a truck with a different transmission, it will take you longer, than if you have Ridgeline's experience. It will also make a difference on WHERE you are driving. City or mountain driving, you will pick it up a lot quicker than if you're running interstate across the Midwest.

I have run into some old Volvo's where the transmission was so loose, I thought I was back in my '64 bug. . .
