I worked in the oilfield but got laid off. I'm thinking about doing food service but not sure if I can handle it. I don't want to do linehaul unless its driving & working the dock. Not sure what I should do. Any advice?
What should I pursue?

I have 1 year driving experience and would like to make 70k-80k. Can I make that doing P&D?

P&D can be harder than food service.
Your best bet is tankers or linehaul since you want that much money.
Where is your location?Last edited: May 27, 2016

70K is possible with tankers. Dozens of tanker jobs in Louisiana.
Here's a few of the more familiar ones:
McKenzie Tank Lines
Trimac Transportation - $100K+ possible in the Elite Fleet
A&R Logistics
SVTN
Superior-Carriers
Tidewater Transit
Groendyke Transport
Old Dominion is one of the better linehaul companies & also:
Estes

P&D is basically daytime work and you do nothing but bump docks all day. The freight is palletized, so the times you do have to offload, you use a pallet jack and a liftgate. The hardest part about P&D is TIME MANAGEMENT, because you have to make all you're deliveries and pickups before companies and stores close down, but other than that, nothing really TOO difficult about the job.Bob Dobalina Thanks this.
