Could someone explain this video to me....

The first part is some kind of old school mechanical rgn..? After he slams under the load the trailer is still on the ground??

And the last part moving a scrapper with just a dolly type setup..... Do you still do it this way ?

Interesting......never seen it done like that before, thanks for posting. If for some reason you missed your target, equipment could get damaged in a hurry. Sorry I don't have an answer for you.

After a close look, in the first part the guy is using a very early model of Murrays 8 axle set-up with no hyd. tower on the jeep. Since you could not load over the back, & the scraper could not be backed up any farther, it was a real struggle gettin back under the trailer. A winch would make this a lot easier. The jeep and dolly setup, wow what a P.O.S. lookin jeep! 631s & 37s are a lot easier with a stinger dolly. Normally with a 31 or a 37 one would dolly up the back end then load the jeep. In this case the basket dolly puts the rear end too high & the can must be raised up to clear the front tires on the dolly, then the nose of the scraper is too low to get up the ramps without draggin on tires. Not the best way to move 37s or 31s. But you have to work with what you got. Now days, at least out here in CA they just drive the 657s & all the rest onto a triple 16 booster type, power the rear wheels up, put the neck on & away you go. Less than an hour with 2 guys loading. You dont see many stinger or basket dollies anymore. Sad.

    Wow. That looks rough.
Wonder how many of them rear dollies have gotten away and taken off down a hill?

I never lost mine, lol. One must pick their spot to load, & I had a cord attched to the maxi button on the dolly that I could pull in a hurry if need be.

Man I do NOT miss scraper trailers, I also don't miss moving 37's either, but we didn't use the scraper trailer for those they were worse.
