Dispatching yourself you are not at the mercy of a dispatcher who if you get mad at you for something can cause you to sit with no loads. I am responsible for creating relationships with the agents I deal with. I am responsible for how hard I work and where I go and what I haul! No one calls me at home! I go back to work when I am ready and am not pushed. I would never want to be under a dispatcher ever again!
PoleCrusher, HorseShoe, KingG239 and 2 others Thank this. -

I dispatch myself...wouldn't have it any other way..
PoleCrusher, freightwipper and KingG239 Thank this. -
Lot of driver that dispatch them self are better off.

For things to run smoothly, you have to be the point of contact for the shipper, receiver and anyone else involved in the process. Having other people as the point of contact just mucks up the system, and that's when things go wrong!
BrenYoda883 and KingG239 Thank this. -
Depends on your communication and business skills.

95% self dispatch and that's the way i like it!

I just did away with them all together. Run the same route every week. Also did away with all but two customers. Keeps it simple that way.

I am really preferring Self dispatch. The wife has my back on eyeballing loads on the board if I can't stop.
It's also kinda fun to explain that rate per mile is easy. Look at rate per day and your load is a money looser.
