Who or Where to leases gooseneck trailers for hot shots? Can't find anything on the net. I have had some drivers tell me what they paid and what they leased but no one seems to know from where lol.

45 ft goosenecl flatbed. Will be pulling with a Freightliner sport chassis M2. I'm in south carolina. I found none on the east coast. The 2 that I have found is in TX and the cheapest one for a 40 ft with smaller axles than what I want/need is $1480 a month. Seems to be easier to get a big trailer for a class 8. I think Im going to change from the gooseneck to a 5th wheel.

$1480 a month is a lot for that trailer considering my buddy sold a 48ft gooseneck flatbed for $7500.

Wouldn't do you any good either. Class 8 trailers are a lot heavier. But this depends, is the truck setup as a class 8 tractor like Coke does with their M2's or is it setup like a ranch hauler that's really not meant for anything bigger than a large 5th wheel RV or horse trailer? www.sportchassis.com has the specs on the general options as well as the Freightliner website but Freightliner also lists their upgrades on a spec list to convert to a class 8 truck. The 106 model can be driven by anyone with a drivers license and add a air brakes to their license if it is equipped as so but the 112 model, although it appears almost the exact same as the 102, does have a slightly larger hood and also has a higher GVWR which does require a CDL. I say if the truck isn't spec'ed as a class 8 then I wouldn't dare try and pull a class 8 trailer with it. That will limit your payload capacity greatly and more likely to cause damage to the truck. If such a trailer were needed then, you might actually come out ahead by just getting a class 8 truck altogether.

Oh and another thing I forgot to mention is if the M2 isn't already setup with air brakes then trying to plumb in a brake valve and air lines would be a major PITA. If it already does have air brakes then the single dash valve would have to be removed, drill a hole, install the proper mounting bracket and put in a dual tractor/trailer valve set then re-plumb the system to add air lines for the trailer. That in turn could be more costly than a gooseneck trailer after parts and labor time.

Truck is set up with air brakes. 8500lbs front axle 19500lbs rear. Im just going to be kind of stuck with that rental price for a month or two until I can get the cheese together to purchase one.
