I have accepted the offer to attend the 08/12/13 orientation at TMC. Like many others, I am ex-military and am looking forward to the challenge, hard work and all the laughter / pain that comes with flatbed trucking and looking forward to being apart of the flatbed brotherhood. I am planning to go straight out with the trainer right after the 2 week orientation? Is there anything else that I should bring compared with someone that is planning to go home before they go out with their trainer?
Is anyone else starting there on 08/12/13? My flight comes in Sun early afternoon; funny enough I didn't feel like sitting on a bus all weekend when the plane ticket was pretty much the same price as the bus ticket, so I will be in on Sunday, have time to unwind and get settled in and do some exploring before all the fun Monday morning

i think you made a good choice i cant say I know alot about tmc but i will say iv been driving for 12 years now mostly all skateboard for the most part but tmc seems to take care of there drivers . Iv spoken with many of there drivers at aliquippa pa they seem to be happy i do know they keep there trucks #### and span and will expect you to do so will even give you cleaning supplies to do so but thats not necessarily a bad thing . they haul lot of different types of freight from john deer tractors, coils, shingles but for somenone thats just getting into the bussiness they seem like a good company fair pay and hometime. Any questions or any way to help ya out ask away be happy to help out.

I recently graduated from CDL school and am considering TMC , Maverick and McElroy. I am going through the background process and have not decided where to start. I would appreciate any feedback on which of these companies would be the best place to start me trucking career.
-
Being that you're Irish,I would go with McElroy.

Out of those three companies, TMC probably has the most "intense" orientation/training out of them. Maverick doesn't seem to be to bad of an outfit, but I don't really like companies based out of Arkansas. McElroy I know nothing about so can't help you there.
TMC = Peterbilts
Maverick = Freightshakers
McElroy = Internationals?
Pick your poison haha!
Good luck and be safe out there where ever you choose to go. I cannot stand doing flatbed especially after I got a taste of LTL.
