So I have spent a good amount of time on here reading about TMC. I am currently attending classes at Roadmaster Driving School in Dunn, NC. So far its going great, I got my permit, and started driving some this week. I have applied for several companies just to keep my options open and have received pre-hire letters from Stevens Transport, Warner, U.S. Express, and TMC.

I have been for the most part set on going with TMC for several reasons.
    1. Training
    2. Reputation
    3. Veteran Friendly (I know I know, most are)
    4. Seems they have good pay
    5. POTENTIAL home time (although my recruiter said I would be out two weeks at a time due to where I live, but im fine with that)
    6. I love their equipment

Ok so I read something on the forums that may be a deal breaker for me though. Is it true that they are installing on the new trucks dash cams and cams that watch the driver? In one hand I can completely understand why they would do it, but in the other, some privacy would be nice. Are their any current drivers from North Carolina that live east of I-95 on here? If so how is your schedule? Do you take the Truck and Trailer home when you get home time?

Funny, I had a million questions before I started typing this and now I forget most of them. Any way I will add other questions as I remember them.

My final question is can anyone give me some pointers on what it is I need to prepare for (besides the obvious like driving a truck) before I go to orientation?

Thanks in advance for your input.

I had not heard that, but would be very interested to know the answer. I heard EITHER Melton or Maverick was starting to roll them out but I honestly can't remember which or where I read that.

I had read it on one of the other threads about TMC, I just can't remember which one. I also wanted to add that with the tarp test that I have been reading so much about. I am only 5'6" and I would say not the strongest guy in the world. I do toss 50-70 lb bails of hay in the back on my truck fairly often, but im concerned with the weight of the tarps. I had read on one of the other threads that they way up to 120 lbs. Im not 100% sure I can toss a 120 lb tarp over my head. I guess I need to start working out. Dang I wish this was back in my better USMC days. LoL then it would have been no problem.

I'm right there with ya, I'm 5'5 I've been practicing with sandbags a bit but still not sure I could sling 120.

Check out the YouTube videos from TMC, they show how they expect you to pick them up.

if you do go with T.M.C. please do not do like a lot of them & hold up a dock/bay while you put on every chain, bungie, tarp, e.t.c. :biggrin_25519: good luck wherever you choose to go.

That just seems like it would be common courtesy. I understand to put a couple on just to ensure the load does not shift or fall off why you move out of the way and to an area that you can finish up.

I am also considering TMC once I finish school in September. It looks like hometime is good for the area I live in. I live in Sanford and see many the same TMC trucks parked by my house and in Spring Lake.

Your in a good spot for TMC. I live about 35 miles from I-95 and about 25 from I-40 so they told me I would be out for two weeks at a time. That's not such a big deal for me though.

I just want to work for a great company that treats their drivers well.

You should check out EPES out of Greensboro. They are mostly home every weekend too.
