I will be getting out of the army in a few weeks and have a prehire from TMC and Stevens. I already have a Class A CDL with all endorsements. I will be using my post 9-11 for the OJT Program. just trying to find out which company is better. I like Stevens for the APU and the miles. but I like TMC for there home time. So just trying to find out how many miles TMC drivers are getting now. Thanks Kevin

Do you want to flatbed or pull a reefer around? At TMC they have a percentage based pay program, not just mileage. You could run 2000 miles and make 1000 bucks gross at TMC. I worked for them for 2.5 years and they are a great place to work. health benefits are better then my now union benefits for a teamsters union in Chicago.... Pay was great, equipment is great, treated like an adult. I would go back and work there without a doubt.

Thanks Milskired I have not heard much bad about TMC. just want to make the right choice here I'm the type of person that don't want to jump around on jobs. I know reefer is easier but waiting at meat plants does not sound fun.

FYI, reefer is not easier! The only thing easy about it is you usually don't have to touch the freight. On the other hand, because it is reefer, it is perishable which means you will be on a strict schedule to pick up and deliver and the people that do one or the other don't give a rats but about your schedule. You are responsible either way.
I have never wanted to pull a van and would NEVER pull a reefer.
    Just my .02
    Good luck.

TMC also participates in the V.A. Apprenticeship program, which is extra money for you, Stevens does not participate in the program.
