Hey guys, I was on specialized and left last October to go overseas. I'll be back around September sometime and was just wondering if they had decided on the trucks that are replacing the "Hoods" with yet? I hear they're doing the 579 with a 13, but have not gotten any confirmation, and Greg hasn't gotten back to me about it. Just kind of a general question. I hear from some buddies that freight is supposed to be a lot better than last spring. Good luck and stay safe out there.

While I'm not a TMC guy I run with a lot of them, and they have told me that the hood is out and the 579 is in. I must say from looking at them they are Cadillacs. Just my two cents.

Kris,
Same as ReeferOhio; I'm not with TMC, but I've seen several of the new 579s here in NY. I was parked next to one pulling boats yesterday, and it's a beautiful truck. Be safe. -
If you get back into specialized with TMC it will be with a hood. They are keeping them for specialized only. 579 will replace the rest of the fleet, but to my knowledge they will hang onto the hoods for this group. Specialized hoods are set up with the ramps on the tail for picking up the RGN trailers and the new 579's were not ordered with them.

Well, before I left a couple of the old timers had 579's set up for it that we're testing it out, so I was just wondering if they had said anything about it. I do know when they were fully set up for specialized, they were about 1000 heavier than the hoods. I also heard rumor of tri axle rgns?

Well, things may have changed. If you still have your FM"s phone number from when you were with them, try calling him to ask. Might as well get it right from the horses mouth!

Milskired- I know the feeling. I left then and had to come back for just that reason. Sucks going slower, but worth it when you're driving those rigs. I do love the hoods, but it would be nice to get the tri axles to open our range on loads a little more. I hauled a couple excavators last summer that pushed my limits a lot. I guess time will tell. The only times I had a paycheck I didn't like was when I was first on line haul, or when I had an extra long drill weekend. Even then I was making more in 3-4 days than a lot of people make on full weeks.
milskired Thanks this. -
Im not sure but I think in the 579's they are going down to a 9spd
