Just a quick question for you guys/gals who have been through it. The practice tarp they have located in the fitness room. Is that an actual full size lumber tarp like what will be used to test strength on the first day of orientation?

I recall reading some contradicting information on whether its a lumber tarp or steel tarp and wanted to see if there is any consensus. Having never lifted one I have no idea. It feels a little lighter than the 120# of sand I was practicing with. But then again the sand had a tendency to move around and change shape making it seem more difficult to lift.

When I was there it was a steel tarp in the fitness room but it's been over a year ago... If it's black it's a steel and if its red/maroon it's a lumber...

Perfect, yes it was the black one so it sounds like a steel tarp.

One other question that has come up between myself and my roommate was how large is the "class" typically to start (Day 1)

I just finished week 1 im here right now if you have any questions let me know. To answer the thread though:
You will be lifting a 120 pound lumber tarp. It is the red one in the gym, your going to have to shoulder it, place it on the deck and then place it on top of a 40000 pound suicide coil. You'll also need to lift your self up on to the deck of a flat bed. You will be hraded on how well you do this.

All you have to do is climb on to the trailer from the back bumper making sure you maintain 3 points of contact. Nothing to worry about.

Nope, you're going to walk around to the side of the trailer, near the front. You will need to use your arms to lift your self up and then throw your legs up on to the trailer. This is the only time during training what you'll do this. Its to simulate what it might be like to climb on to the top of a load. Otherwise you will always do it the way you mentioned.
