TMC - How often do you load, tarp, and relay a load?

I'm curious tho as well if you carry a ladder with you to get up on some of those high loads

Nope no ladder, you're never gonna be loaded higher than 13 feet give or take a few inches (unless you're in freakin texas and if you are just get the hell out of texas ), so you'll only ever need to climb up about a 7 foot load at most. From what I've seen so far most of the time they are tiered and pretty easy to climb up on. You're going to tarp pretty much everything but griffen pipe and shingles. Tarp pay is 25 bucks but once you start to get the hang of tarping it will only take you about an hour between setting them up and then rolling them back up to put them away at your drop off. The thing that sucks is tarping in bad weather, it does get your out of the truck and moving around though which is nice, after you load you're back in the truck for the next 8+ hours and then the next day you're unstrapping and getting unloaded assuming you didnt have a really short trip.
Tarping is part of the job, last week I hauled 3 loads of shingles, one load of griffen pipe, one load of ply wood and one load of random home depot crap. So I had to tarp two loads, this week i might have to tarp 5 loads or I might not have to tarp any. It's entirely dependent on where you are and whats available. -
How much does tmc pay with new drivers no experience?

I think they start at $.34 or 27% but it also depends if you have ANY experience at all. I know things changed a little while back too. I'm a little out of the loop currently. But you get paid differently for lumber and steel tarps. Nothing for smoke tarps obviously. Tarps are just a part of the job, and you do a lot more of it when winter comes. Usually starts around the end of October depending on the area and customer.

TMC pay is purely performance based starting at 26% for percentage pay, or .35cpm on mileage pay. Well over 80% of their drivers choose the percentage pay because the average length of haul is around 450 miles. The performance sets you up for meeting certain milestones, each milestone nets you a certain number of points each month. Getting to your appointments on time, fuel economy, driving out of route, having your hazmat, TWIC, passport, all these and others effect your performance base. After speaking with TMC drivers on my own at the truck stops verses here on the forums has given me a great amount of research and makes me thing that TMC is a great company to go with whether if a student, or an experienced driver.
