I'm also considering TMC. I am currently at student but have don't lots of reading of various companies.TMC has lots of pros that I like and very little con's. Other students in my class are going to CR England. I didn't have the heart to tell them all the bad things I've heard about them.

I'm here starting my second week of orientation and let me tell you that I love it. They are focused on safety, training you right and safety. Take it seriously and you will do fine.

    CR England :(....Horrible.

TMC is a little more strict then some, but if you get over it you can make a lot more money

I read it wrong at first lol thought u were saying $$ but when I looked back I realized you where talking about miles that's y I asked. I know the miles don't matter aslong as freight pays good rather run less miles.

As a company driver i made 1100-1200/week, although that's not average. Most make 900-1000. As a trainer i made around 1300-1400 per week. As an owner operator i make 2500 after all expenses per week. As a trainer we drover 4000+ miles, but as a solo driver i norm averaged 2250 miles

So this is a new life for me. My major concern is famiy time. I have young kids that miss me, what does a realistic home time look like during training?

You will be in Des Moines for 2 weeks. With trainer for up to 6 weeks. You might make it home on weekends when you are with your trainer. That's pretty much it.

Not to be a butt, but if you are worried about family time, OTR isn't the job for you. TMC isn't as bad as some companies, they will get you home on weekends, which is usually late Friday or early Saturday and you will leave home on Sunday afternoon, but home time during the week probly won't happen. You will miss a lot of stuff, birthdays, ball games etc. It's the reality that nobody tells you in CDL school or orientation.

in dsm for 2 weeks, potentially out with trainer right away. If not, you will take a rental car home fri night and be expected to go Sunday night. (short week-end) While out ith trainer you may be out 2 or 3 weeks at a time or you may get home everyweek-end. Its up to your trainer, although when i trained i tried to take my trainee's needs into consideration. If your not getting enough miles you may need to stay out for 2 weeks to get some week-end miles.
