I started here at maverick back in 2007 and have been treated very well I hear horror stories all the time of these other companies but this is a good fit for me and I got some potential promotions that are available here for me. Alot of people don't like it here and alot of people do its pretty much like that everywhere you go but I will see what I can find out for you maybe we can find some assistance to help out with that but just for info we do offer tuition reinbursement up to $3500 think they pay it out weekly once you get your own truck. Let you know what I find out.

Everyone has different opinions about companies. Good and bad. My two biggest concerns is a company that treats you fair and descent pay.

My bf attended school on his own and went to Boyd Bros. They offer tuition reimbursement and a sign on bonus. They've been real good to us. We live right outside Louisville and he gets home pretty much every weekend he wants to (only once has he not made it when he wanted to). They also have a terminal in Cincinatti.

Boyd pays $500 a wk for first 6 wks. 1 wk orientation, 4 wks training (not team training), then another week of additional securement training. After that it's .38cpm until your 6mth. Tarp pay is a lil low at $20 but they also have mpg and safety bonuses. They have good benefits avail also.

Seems they may also be a option to look into also. The company I work for now we get a lot of different trucking companies come through. Roehl, pgt, tmc, swift, a few Boyd trucks and a lot of local companies. Don't really have a chance to talk to many drivers that haul in. I have talked to a few roehl drivers but that's it. Hard to get extra few minutes to talk to them as we stay very busy.

Being from ky also what school did your bf go through? Also pricing if you don't mind me asking. Few options I found are sheperdsville and elizabethtown. Couldn't find any info on a closer school except community college. I appreciate all the info and your replies.

If you go and get your cdl on your own that's definitely the best route as previously stated. I'm a driver trainer for TMC and love it. They have awesome securement training, great pay package (I.e. % pay) and plus we are now employee owned which gives you a much better retirement package versus a traditional 40k which is also still offered. But as others have said you have to find the company that best fits YOU. I can also say I get home every weekend. In the past 2 years I've only been stuck out on the weekend when I didn't want to be, twice. Twice in 2 years isn't bad. Of course I've volunteered a fair amount of times for the good paying loads. Any questions feel free to ask.

Thanks for the info.. Tmc honestly seems like the best fit for me out of all the companies that I have researched and got info on out of probably25+ companies. What state are you located in? Also good to hear from a trainer. Can you give me any info about the Otr training. Still weighing my options as to go to company that offers cdl training or donut on my own.
